The short film I directed over the past 6 months has premiered today.

Summarizing the film’s premise:
“In a Forest takes the viewer in an unexpected transformation from one reality to the next.”

That’s true.
In a forest screens as the opening film for The last airbender in 70 cinemas in The Netherlands.
It’s distributed as a 2K digital cinema file which looks so pristine it feels like the film is beamed directly into your visual cortex.

You get a completely unique work custom made for you, conveniently delivered to you on 2 pages by fax.
The first page is a cover sheet with either an apology, excuse or thank you note – depending on my mood mostly.
The second page is a custom made description of a rather good and interesting artwork.

The version above is viewable with good old red-cyan anaglyph glasses. Providing both an illusion of depth, as well as the sort of retina splitting err-what-the-hell-am-I-looking-at kind of effect I was aiming for. It’s all about beauty and pain, isn’t it.

But, people have preferences, so if you’re more into amber-blue, pink-green or fancy IiNnTtEeRrLaCcEeDd viewing modes, you might want to check out the video on Youtube, where you can choose these modes from the drop down menu (pictured below).

The good people at Pictoplasma commissioned me for this year’s festival opening titles and visuals. An honour and a pleasure. In fact so much, I will refrain from making the horrible pun stringing together the festival name and the word StereoScoPIC.

These are generously sized posters (A1: 594 × 841 mm), fullcolor offset on a 135 grams semigloss poster stock. It’s a nice print with excellent color reproduction, and selling for the friendly price of 10 euros +shipping. I figured that you could barely purchase a Deuce Bigalow European Gigilo poster for the same price, so…just saying.

Above, is a poster designed as part of the publication/bag/catalog of “The Collectors”, the Danish and Nordic Pavillions exhibition at this year’s Biennale di Venezia. The exhibition concept is built around the topic of collecting, which on this poster is explored by presenting a collection of quotes about the nature of collecting, as told through the voices of “the Dandy”, “the Homeless” and “the Intellectual”.

This was made for “The Ark”, an upcoming book published by IdN and curated by DPGH. The book is a collection of 200 renderings of animals from the home countries of an international group of artists.
Given that the Netherlands’ habitat lacks Manta Rays, I chose otter.
