For the past year I worked on the documentary Poor Us, an animated history of poverty. My contribution as head of animation, was to develop the design, storyboards and animation approach, work with director Ben Lewis to translate his ideas and historic notions to dynamic and understandable animated scenes and direct the work of designers Cesare Davolio, Maarten Janssens and animation studio Birdo.
With half of the film consisting of these scenes, it amounts to approximately 30 minutes of animation.
The documentary is slated to broadcast in 70 countries; Three european networks are broadcasting this week, as part of their “Why Poverty” theme week:

My work will be part of the Spring Exhibition 2012 at Kunsthal Charlottenborg in Copenhagen.
The pieces selected are 21:9/16:9/4:3 and Nowhere to go (but I’ll find just where the trail will wind).
“For the Spring Exhibition 2012 there were 715 applicants. 70 artists have been selected, including 66 first-time participants and a total of 92 works. The youngest artist was born in 1990 and the oldest in 1949. 31 artists come from Denmark, 15 from the rest of the Nordic region, 18 from other European countries, and 6 from other countries around the world.”
Ah, home match. I’m talking about my work at Faux images IV this Tuesday. Also speaking: Robert Seidel and Ben&Julia.

There’s two events coming up that are in some contrast to the relative solitude of my daily practice (no, no, it’s ok. Some days are better than others).
The Kuala Lumpur Design Week invited me to do a talk at their conference this Sunday (18th of September). The event is one of the largest of its kind in the region and a magnet to young creative talent* – very excited about being there. My presentation will be completely reworked to involve less art and more pornography. This went down really well before, and the effect of giving an audience more bang for their buck should never be underestimated.
The second is the Playgrounds Festival , in Tilburg and Amsterdam on 5, 6 and 7 October. My part in that is supposed to be somewhat of a surprise/downer, but I can disclose that unlike last year, at least I won’t be making the opening titles this time around. So nobody has to feel “aesthetically insulted”, ok?
Kuala Lumpur Design Week – Malaysia – 16-25th September 2011
Playgrounds Festival 2011 – Amsterdam, Tilburg; The Netherlands – 5,6,7 October 2011
My short film In A Forest has been selected for Brazil’s main Animation festival Animamundi 2011.

Ever since 1996, I have had a portfolio online. And every two years I would change it to accomodate new work but mainly to keep myself from hating it.
So, welcome. I hope you enjoy what you see here. If you have any questions or issues or problems or suggestions that for some reason I am or should be part of, leave a comment or send me an email.
Thanks.
